The second month has arrived and this year with an extra day! A time to continue sowing seeds and looking within. Embracing the final month of Winter. Dreaming even bigger than before, with hope for what is to come.
There is still a chill in the air and the Cornish weather is as unpredictable as ever. Blue skies and winter sun feels like Spring is already here, but that's not to say we won't be greeted with a dusting of snow, perhaps a foggy landscape or a stormy sea too. Winter remains. We are still wrapping up warm with many more hearty meals to be had. There's a frost on the ground and the trees are still bare, but nature’s hinting that Spring isn’t too far away. Excited!
February's arrival brings with it the gentle awakening of the earth. Small signs of Spring. Sprouting Snowdrops, Daffodils, wild Primroses. There are so many signs that Spring is near. Hazel trees decorated with garlands of catkins. Gorse bushes bursting with flowers on the moorlands. Wildlife begins to stir.Birds begin to gather nesting materials in anticipation of the warmer days ahead and badger cubs are born. New life is ready to begin.
Look even closer. Tips of crocus and tulip leaves have broken through the soil. Elder trees boast their new buds and Honeysuckle leaves show us how they withstand the harsh winter spells. Nature's hard work pays off. Onwards and upwards from here!
Flying by!
I thought January had been and gone in a blink of an eye, but here I am one week into February wondering where the time has gone again. We've had a very fast-paced start to this month with a trip to London, last week for the Sustainable Wedding Alliance Summit (more on that soon!), but from now on it's 'business as usual' (at least for a few weeks!).
Sowing Seeds...
We have some really exciting news to share around our flower growing plans very, very soon! I purchased a few packets of seeds from the wonderful Black Shed Flowers (their flowers are beautiful) and am patiently waiting for germination (with all my fingers and toes crossed in the process!)
